Did you know Black households give a higher percentage of their income to charity than any other racial group?
Black philanthropy is real—it’s just not always recognized.
Our giving has historically been rooted in churches, mutual aid societies, and informal community support. But now, we need to bring that same spirit into Black-led nonprofits so we can access the resources we need to thrive.
How do we strengthen Black philanthropy?
• By telling our stories. Let people know how their donations are transforming communities.
• By making giving easy. If we remove barriers (complex donation forms, unclear requests), we’ll see more support.
• By celebrating Black wealth and generosity.
There’s a whole ecosystem of Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and donors who WANT to give. Let’s tap into it.
